WHAT'S RIK'S PERSONAL BACKGROUND?

Richard Michael Mayall was born on March 7th, 1958 in a village called Matching Tye, just outside of Harlow in Essex, England. His parents names are John and Gillian and they were both drama teachers who met at London's Central School of Speech and Drama. When Rik was three, the family moved to Droitwich, near Birmingham.

Rik has three siblings: an older brother named Anthony (a civil engineer), a younger sister named Libby (she "looks after rock bands"), and youngest sibling Kate (a doctor of psychology at Birmingham University).

Rik says he gave himself the nickname of "Rik" in honor of the comic strip character "Erik the Viking".

For the girlies out there, Rik is 5 foot 11 and has blue eyes. His family's background is English with a little bit of Irish and Scottish.

In 1985 Rik married a former make-up artist from Scotland, Barbara Robbin. They have three children: Rosie (born 1986), Sidney (born 1988) and Bonnie (born September 18, 1995).
